Gold Coast social fund raising group Chicks @ Lunch raise much needed money for the Animal Welfare League through their fun monthly get togethers at the Southport Yacht Club.
The group foundered by Rosie Thompson 9 years ago after moving to the Gold Coast. Rosie was looking for a way to bring her own circle of friends together regularly and also provide social opportunities to other ladies new to the area. Chick's @ lunch was formed and now has a regular attendance of 150-180 at their monthly lunches.
We met Kimya Mianji from Chicks @ Lunch on a recent visit to take some photos of the AWL shop in Southport and found about the great work that the group does to raise funds for AWL. Over the past 9 years the group has raised over $120,000 for the charity. Several of the groups members are local business women and donate stock overflow of clothing, jewellery etc to the AWL shop to raise additional funds. This also provides a wonderful flow on effect providing new high end apparel and accessories to locals that would not normally be able to afford these luxuries.
Chicks @ Lunch is also continually coming up with new initiatives to help out less fortunate members of the comunity in times of need.
The monthly gatherings are in themselves great social events for all the members and girls always get into the spirit of their themed events, and clearly love any excuse to get dressed up.
